The (Accidental) Other Woman

“. . .Sitting in  a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. First comes love. Then comes marriage. . .”

Sigh. If only it were that simple. Not that I care: I have officially placed my love life on hold, called a time-out, benched myself (I think you get my drift). My heart is still hurting from my last collision with love. Nope, not playing that game again for at least another few months. Instead, I’m whiling away the summer climbing, slowly but surely, towards my goals and dreams.

But as I revel in my new single status, I can’t help but notice an odd trend. Lately, I’ve been courted by men who appear every bit to be Mr. Right. They are charming, smart, kind, handsome. And wealthy. But they have one gigantic strike against them: They’re married.

Dating Now-and-Laters

“A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest.”

This quote from some forgotten film haunted me as I resolved to end yet another romance.

It happens over and over again. Shonda meets X. X likes Shonda. And then things get complicated. I guess it’s my business genes, but I hate the thought of investing time and energy into someone that I simply can’t imagine growing up and old with.
